Dr Phillips is an experienced academic laboratory researcher and clinical science editor. His PhD research focused on the biochemistry of bacterial DNA recombination and repair. After initial postdoctoral research into the molecular biology of a viral pathogen, he entered the field of human reproductive biology and spent 13 years investigating the mechanisms responsible for preterm birth. Dr Phillips’ studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented his results at international scientific conferences. He has also acted as a peer reviewer for academic journals. Having worked for 2 years on several of the Nature Reviews clinical science titles, he now works as a dedicated scientific editor. Dr Phillips joined Edanz Group as an editor in 2016.
