    After completing his PhD in Trypanosoma flagellates, Dr Tieszen worked for 19 years as a clinical research scientist in the departments of Diabetes/Endocrinology and Clinical Biochemistry at a large teaching and research hospital in the UK. He was involved in the planning, development and writing of new research proposals and in the submission of study protocols to Ethical committees. He also advised and supported PhD medical registrar candidates and 3rd year medical students with their research projects. More recently, Dr Tieszen has worked as a Consultant Diabetes and Weight Management Specialist in a medical clinic in Tanzania. In addition to his particular interest in diabetes and endocrinology, he also takes an active interest in the areas of Tropical Medicine, nutrition, obesity, wellness and healthy living. He has authored 25 published research papers, and has made presentations at numerous professional scientific conferences in the UK, Germany and the USA. A registered Biomedical Scientist with the Health Professions Council of the UK, Dr Tieszen joined Edanz Group as an editor in 2011.
