Edanz Group was invited to make a second visit to the medical campus of Gunma University, Japan, on 26-27 March 2016 as a follow-up of an Edanz seminar on making presentations that was given earlier in the year. During this visit, Dr Trevor Lane and Dr Julian Tang held an interactive workshop on medical research reporting for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Aimed at beginner-level authors, the weekend workshop covered the fundamentals of medical research ethics, epidemiology, and study design. It also covered common errors in clinical papers in language, structure, biostatistical presentation, and illustrations, as well as how to avoid plagiarism and how to submit a paper to a journal.

Class activities throughout each day offered students the opportunity to ask questions and clarify earlier learning points. All 25 students in the class said they found the workshop useful or very useful, and all of them said they would recommend the workshops to their colleagues.
