In October 2016, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Mexico, hosted a three-day intensive Edanz workshop in research communication for 15 early- to mid-career researchers.

Delivered by Dr Trevor Lane, Education Director and Senior Publishing Consultant of Edanz Group, the interactive workshops on 26-28 October aimed to improve skills in journal selection, effective writing, navigating the peer review process, making academic presentations in international conferences, and presenting to non-academic audiences. Using samples from physical sciences, technology, medicine, and social sciences, the workshop included hands-on activities, class discussions, and role play.

For the mid-career researchers, teaching tips were given so that they would be equipped to train their students in manuscript writing, journal publication, and conference presentation in the future. They were also introduced to free online tools available on the Edanz website--namely, the Journal Selector, elearning platform Author Academy, and a beta version of the guided writing platform Author Path.

All participants found the workshop useful or very useful, ranked manuscript preparation tips most highly, and said they would recommend the workshop to their colleagues or students.
