SCIENCE COPYEDITOR at EDANZ EDITING – FUKUOKA OFFICE

Edanz Editing is one of Japan’s major English editing c­ompanies, with offices in Fukuoka, Japan, and Beijing ,China. We specialize in the medical and physical sciences. Edanz has over 50 editors, at least 40 with PhDs, working for us worldwide; about 8 are effectively full-time. We are looking for another full time science copy editor to work with us in our Fukuoka office.

THE POSITION

Job Description: Science Copyeditor to copyedit/language polish Japanese and Chinese authored manuscripts written in English. The position will also include some management responsibilities, such as assisting Japanese staff with appropriate editor assignments of manuscripts, quality control of manuscripts edited by our other editors and express editing work.

Place and Hours of Work: Daimyo, in the heart of Fukuoka city. Tenth floor office with lots of natural light. Our office is open 0930 to 1900 except on Saturdays and Sundays. Core hours would involve 40 hours of office time per week.

Qualifications: Preferably a M.Sc. in a field of physical or biological science. A skilled writer with a B.Sc(Hons) would be considered. Published author and/or previous editing work an advantage. Familiarity with the SCE and/or JAMA style manuals helpful but not essential. English must be your birth language.

Remuneration Package: Base monthly salary is negotiable and relates to qualifications and experience. Expatriate style international medical insurance. Vacations and holidays based on office schedule; but qualify for 2 weeks at your choice of time after 6 months. Visa sponsored. The initial contract is for one year but could develop into a permanent position.
