Dr Rosa worked as a large animal veterinarian at Cornell University (USA) and as an equine veterinarian at Massey University (NZ) before beginning her PhD studies. Her skills in veterinary medicine range from medicine and surgery to herd health and animal welfare. Her present PhD research is in the area of developmental origins of health and disease; specifically, the effects of maternal exercise on offspring development and later-life health in a rat model. Her PhD research integrates endocrinology, reproductive biology, exercise physiology, and imaging techniques to examine the musculoskeletal and metabolic health of her trial animals. This work has led to several publications in the American Journal of Physiology. Dr Rosa joined the Edanz Group as an editor and expert reviewer in 2011.
