Edanz focuses its attention on one thing – getting your manuscript accepted for publication. This is why we offer services beyond editing, which can be used in conjunction with editing to help you achieve your goal of publication. We call these our "Focus Services".
Expert Scientific Review The Edanz “Expert Scientific Review” provides a critical analysis of the content of your manuscript, similar to peer review, before you submit it to your target journal. One or two Edanz scientists (you choose how many you want) in your field identify any scientific issues that might prevent your manuscript from being accepted for publication. Suggestions are given to resolve those issues. This service makes it less likely that major revisions will be required after peer review and increases your chances of speedy publication in your chosen journal.
The scientists who undertake Expert Scientific Reviews are noted specialists in their field. Some are specialist editors or writers already working for Edanz, but most are senior researchers and academics who have agreed to work with Edanz as consultants - much like a peer reviewers' relationship with a journal. They will identify scientific issues that might prevent or slow down your manuscript from being accepted for publication. By having Edanz identify issues that could impede peer review, or even selection for peer review, you increase your chances of acceptance for publication. Edanz will work with you to alter the manuscript to address any issues identified. This service greatly speeds up the submission and peer review stages leading to publication.
Journal Selection Selection of an inappropriate journal is one of the most common reasons for rejection. We use our expert field and journal knowledge to recommend journals that meet your publication needs. We give you a short-list of journals with an assessment of the benefits and risks associated with each. We also give you our recommendation of the most appropriate.
Publishing is important for your career and helps you secure more funding for your research. We use our knowledge to generate a short-list of journals (three or more, depending on your choice) that we believe will be most appropriate and most likely to consider your work. We also give an assessment of the benefits and risks of submitting to each journal to enable you to make the most appropriate decision of your target journal. Edanz can recommend a journal to meet your publication needs, whether that be reaching a target audience or publishing in a high Impact Factor journal. We consider the following when identifying potential target journals:
Recent publication history Scope of your study Type of study (e.g., clinical study, case study, laboratory study) Type of manuscript (e.g., short communication, full article, review article, letter to the editor) Do you need to publish in a journal with an Impact Factor/indexed in Medline/Embase, etc.? Point-by-Point Response to Peer Review Comments Point-by-Point Response (PBP) takes place after an author who has used our service receives peer review comments. Edanz will check the author's response to the peer review comments, and the corresponding changes to the manuscript, so that the manuscript can have a better chance of proceeding to acceptance for publication. We will look at the reviewer's comments, the author's response, and the revised manuscript to ensure the following:
That the author has responded to the reviewer comments correctly and professionally. This includes not only language editing, but also involves scientific analysis to check that the author has correctly understood the reviewer comments and offered an accurate, clear and appropriate response. Has made the necessary changes in the manuscript and that the manuscript content is consistent with the response letter.
Journal Management and Submission Assistance If needed we can work with the author to handle the submission process and monitoring of the manuscript throughout the entire peer review and publication process. This can prevent delays due to improperly following submission procedures and create more time for you to focus on your research.
