Workshop on Scientific Publishing in Shiraz and Teheran, Iran

November 2011

Edanz, Springer and three universities in Iran hosted a free author workshop about scientific publishing on November 24, 27, 28 and 29. The total number of attendees across all four workshops exceeded 2,000 people.

OPEN ACCESS AFRICA 2011 Kerry Greer, President of Edanz Group, held a pre-conference workshop entitled "English language editing for African scientists" at Open Access Africa 2011, hosted by BioMed Central in partnership with Computer Aid International and held at Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science And Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana on 24 October 2011.

BioMed Central and Edanz Hold Author Training Workshops in China

Training seminars for authors, co-sponsored by BioMed Central and Edanz (known in China as Liwen Bianji), were recently held at Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZUSM) on May 20, 2011 and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTU-SM) on May 23, 2011. The seminars, titled "Open Access and Scientific Writing", were attended by over 140 Chinese scientists from ZUSM and SJTU-SM and their affiliated hospitals, and Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences.

Springer, KACST and Edanz joint author workshops in Saudi Arabia

In March, Edanz visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of a series of author training workshops, organized by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Springer, to support scientific authors in the kingdom. Workshops were held at King Abdulaziz University (Jeddah), King Saud University (Riyadh), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Dhahran). Attending from Edanz were Benjamin Shaw, Global Director, and Warren Raye, Senior Life Sciences Editor.

Dr Warren Raye Joins Edanz Fukuoka Office

Dr Warren Raye joined the Edanz Fukuoka office on November 1 as Life Sciences Senior Editor and Trainer.
Dr Raye
was formerly a research fellow at Monash University's Stem Cell research unit in Melbourne. A molecular biologist, he holds a PhD in molecular virology from Murdoch University. As well as editing, Dr Raye will also be giving educational lectures on “How to write a manuscript”.

Dr Daniel Broaddus Joins Edanz China (Liwen Bianji) Office

Dr Daniel Broaddus, joined the Edanz China office on August 10 as Physical Sciences Senior Editor and Trainer. Dr Broaddus was previously a researcher at Cornell University. A specialist in optical science, Dr Broaddus will be giving educational lectures on “how to write a scientific paper” as well as editing manuscripts.

Manuscript Writing Workshop at A-COE 2010

Edanz Group is delighted to be holding a manuscript writing workshop for young researchers to “increase their chances of publication success”. This is the second annual Asian Conference on Organic Electronic (A-COE 2010) and will be held in Seoul, Korea from November 3rd to 5th.

Dr Daniel Broaddus, a specialist in-house editor and trainer at Edanz Group, will give a lecture. He will talk about manuscripts structure, journal guidelines, writing style, common mistakes, how to write a cover or response letter amongst other things. Both the organizing committee and Edanz welcome all conference attendees to participate in the workshop.
